Joint BioEnergy Institute Field Trip - February 17, 2014

Free tour at JBEI(Joint BioEnergy Institute) for students in grades 7-12. JBEI is one of three DOE Bioenergy Research Centers (BRCs) established by DOE’s Office of Science in 2007 on the basis of a nationwide competition to accelerate fundamental research breakthroughs for the development of advanced, next-generation biofuels.

Location: JBEI is located in the Bay Area biotech hub in the City of Emeryville and housed in the EmeryStation East building between Powell and 59th Streets. Visitor Information:
  • All guests taking tours of the laboratories at JBEI must wear long pants and closed toe shoes per DOE requirements.
  • You must indicate whether or not you are a citizen. This is per DOE requirements. You do NOT have to be a US citizen to attend.
Entry/Security:
  • The entrance to the building is not on street level. From Hollis Street, take a short flight of stairs up to enter the first floor lobby.
  • All non-JBEI employees are required to sign in at the First Floor lobby security desk. After signing in, the security guard will escort you to the elevator and provide access to JBEI ‘s fourth floor lobby.
